The Orthodox Church celebrates barbarism today

 Today is barbarism. The Orthodox Church commemorates the holy great martyr Barbara, who was martyred for Christianity at the beginning of the 4th century. According to church tradition, the virgin martyr Barbara was born in the second half of the 3rd century in the Phoenician city of Iliopolis. The only child was raised by his father, who was an idolater. After learning the story of Barbara's silent baptism, her father brought her to Markianus, the ruler of the country. After several days of torture, St. Barbara's head was beheaded by her father. St. Barbara is considered a special protector of children.
